Latest Recruitor Scam on L1nkedin?

One offshored recruitor prefaces his spammessage with:
Note: Please accept In Mail even if you are not
interested so that we can have the credits back
which we can use for sending In mails.
Umm? Help them send more spam? How dumb can they be?

A New Low, Lower than Scum, Your Name is AI

Holly macaroni this job spam is the biggest pile of turd on this side of Y2K:
  1. my e-mail address was scraped by something from Monster
  2. am I to have a "conversation" with an AI?
  3. "It can learn more about you beyond just a resume"? Like what?
  4. "it’s difficult to communicate who you are" -- sure... to an AI?
  5. this is priceless... of all the bullcrap recruiters message me this is the most outré:
As an AI Recruiter, I help you to expand upon your experience and skills. I understand the requirements of the job and give you the opportunity to elaborate on how your skills and experiences relate to the position in your own words.
This is a good excerpt of their spam template:
Subject: Chat with Wendy about blah jd

My name is W3ndy, and I'm helping the XYZ hiring
team. I should also mention I'm artificially intelligent
Recruiter. Yep, you heard that right!

I'm working with XYZ to hire for their Systems
Engineer position in Colorado Springs, Florida1.
I came across your resume and thought that you might
be a good fit for this role.

My goal is to learn more about you beyond just a resume.
Through a simple conversation, I can help you get in front
of the hiring managers faster. My aim is to be your advocate,
presenting you in the most relevant way possible.

To get started please click the button below to begin
chatting with me. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Happy Chatting!

*FAQs:*

*What if I have questions or run into any problems?*

If at any point you require assistance, please email the Wade & Wendy
human support team at help@XYZQ.ai. They're eager to help!

*Will the hiring manager see this chat? What happens next?*

Yes. The hiring manager uses the chat, as well as the rest of your
application, to determine next steps. If the hiring team chooses to move
forward with your application, they will reach out via email.

*Why are we doing this in a chat format?*

It's difficult to communicate who you are and what you can do in a
bullet point on your resume or in the summary section of your LinkedIn
profile. Those tools are two-dimensional you='re not. As an AI
Recruiter, I help you to expand upon your experience and skills. I
understand the requirements of the job and give you the opportunity to
elaborate on how your skills and experiences relate to the position in your
own words.
1 = There is no such place. Just nitpicking.

Aug 14 update: a clear-eyed recruiter suggested that I might be used as training material for the AI. Also that the AI funnels/weeds out candidates to flesh&blood recruiters.

The Newest Dumbest Recruiter Spam - Twïttēr

The latest spam sent to my Monster-only e-mail address by a dumb recruiter I've never talked to:
Nick - IT Recruiter wants to keep up with you on Twitter
No "How are you?", no "I have reviewed your resume and I have an exciting opportunity"?

And I thought that the drive-by LinkedIn requests were dumb. The funny thing is that I don't have a Twïttēr account as I have no use for it.

When Spammers Read^H^H^H^HRip Off Job Boards

Monster is magnificent at letting spammers harvest e-mail addresses. I had to change my Monster e-mail address thrice so far.

But what do you do when you address is myaddr@mydomain.com and spammers send you mail at myaddrdd@mydomain.com? Well make up a fake MTA and pick it up and see what they wanted.

The most shameless spam I got this way had a "confidentiality" notice attached to it which read:
No part of this newsletter may
be reproduced in any form or by
any means, electronic or
mechanical, including
photocopying, recording or via
any other information storage
and retrieval system, without
our written permission.
And the spam was even copyrighted!

Cool! You have to admire their gumption.

Got contacted by a recruiter working for a "social network" startup. They want an anti-spam expert. Cool!

Recruiters' Capital Sins (Part 5)

A company called Beacon e-mailed me. They addressed me as "UNIX" (which is part of my e-mail address).

These low-lifes are not even using a human to do the Ctrl+F thing, they simply have some sort of a bot that prowls the web for resumes.

But I suppose they would being that they extol these virtues on their website:

  • "Leading edge internet recruiting techniques which dramatically extend your company's reach, ensuring both quality and volume in your candidate pipeline"

  • "Access to our deep, talented network of contract recruiting professionals"

The name of the sin is pure spamming.

May 21 update: a co-worker tells me that some recruiters want MS-Word instead of PDF so they can change the Resume and pass it to the employers. He advises me to password-protect the Resumes I send out. Good bit.

J**diva is a SPAM House

I've been getting e-mail (i.e. carpet bombing) from various recruiters that use J**diva as their delivery man.

I keep unsubscribing but it's no use. And THAT is what makes J**diva a spammer!

May 28 update: masked company name.

Jul 22 update: Yes, they are BFS'es (i.e. Big Effing Spammers). I blacklisted them and redirected their SMTP traffic to a fake MTA and lo and behold all e-mail coming from them is random job ads spamming crappy jobs that have no meaning whatsoever for me.

Just like the V:/\gR@ ads but coming from bottom-feeding recruiters instead of your friendly neighbourhood scammer.
